Ambling Ambystoma Farm is a certified organic farm (CCOF) located on the central California coast in Santa Cruz County, and is named for the Santa Cruz long-toed salamander (Ambystoma macrodactylum croceum).
Ambling Ambystoma Farm
We raise Coastal Redwood trees (Sequoia sempervirens), Santa Cruz Cypress trees (Hesperocyparis abramsiana), Coast Live Oak trees (Quercus agrifolia), and Pacific Madrone (Arbutus menziesii) for fire restoration and habitat enhancement.
We are also raising Cork Oak trees (Quercus suber) that are native to the Mediterranean region but have had historical importance to California, both during WWII and during the late 1890s. There are several beautiful specimen trees in Santa Cruz and at the Castro Adobe in Watsonville
Our farm is on a 20 acre parcel about 0.5 miles east of the Monterey Bay in California, between La Selva Beach and the City of Watsonville. Portions of the farm are currently leased year round to certified organic growers who grow strawberries and a series of organic row crop vegetables.
In addition, we maintain a smaller area where we grow a variety of organic apples, lemons, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, hops and vegetable row crops. We sell our produce through our seasonal on-site farm stand.
